Novel bioconjugate vaccines
GlycoVaxyn has developed a proprietary technology that for the first time enables the in vivo synthesis of novel bioconjugates (immunogenic polysaccharide/protein complexes) for use in vaccines in a cost-effective manner. The technology takes advantage of new knowledge about the steps involved in synthesising polysaccharides in bacterial cells. Saccharides can be captured to different proteins facilitating the manufacture of ‘designer’ bioconjugates that can be exploited as novel vaccines. Such vaccines can induce bactericidal or ‘killer’ antibodies that protect patients against disease.
Cancer vaccines and therapeutic glycoproteins
Longer-term GlycoVaxyn plans to develop therapeutic vaccines for the treatment of cancer and to expand the scope of technology to the development of human therapeutic glycoproteins.
